about
A Little About Me
I
have
what
some
would
call
an
eclectic
background
--
others
might
say
I
haven't
made
my
mind
up
about
what
I
want
to
be
when
I
grow
up.
Let's
just
say
I
am
leaving
my
options
open.
As
Forest
Gump
once
said,
"Life
is
a
box
of
chocolates..."
and I love the endorphins we get from chocolate!
My
background
is
varied,
starting
with
a
BS
and
a
first
job
in
social
service,
then
mental
health,
substance
abuse
counseling,
then
as
a
counselor
at
a
community
college,
and
lastly
in
vocational
rehabilitation.
My
last
position
in
that
field ended when the CA legislature eliminated the vocational rehab component from the Workers Comp system.
Finding
all
my
employment
opportunities
curtailed
by
government
cuts
in
funding,
I
went
back
to
college
to
earn
a
BS
in
IT,
specializing
in
back
end
web
site
programming.
I
had
been
designing
web
sites
for
many
years,
originally
to
promote
my
side
business
of
Arabian
horse
breeding,
then
later
for
small
business
clients.
My
involvement
with
the
Imprinting
Foundation
led
me
to
exploration
of
web
geospatial
components.
To
further
assist
them
in
their
goal
of
agricultural
sustainability,
I
began
my
MS
studies
in
GIS
with
the
eventual
goal
of
embedding
interactive maps into web sites, as well as performing geospatial analysis.
This
web
site
completed
my
requirements
for
my
MS
in
GIS.
As
of
8-8-18
I
am
currently
working
for
Northrop
Grumman
as
a
web
site
developer,
since
October
2017. I am always interested in positions in GIS that are in the Central Coast CA area, or where I can work remotely.
